Bigger, bolder, better: introducing your new-look Dominion

There’s an age-old saying: if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

And to some extent, that’s true. If you’re an established business that’s loved by customers, delivering strong results, and thriving in your field, it can be all too tempting to leave well enough alone. After all, tinkering with a trusted formula comes with risks. From diluting your identity to confusing your audience, even one misstep can erode decades of hard-earned trust.

But when you’re a bold brand with big ambitions, playing it safe simply isn’t enough. Since opening our doors in 1983, Dominion has evolved dramatically – and so too has the world of print. What was once considered a niche medium for only the most specialised of projects is now a powerful (and growing) stage for creativity. And today, clients expect clarity, capability, and care in equal measure. We’re proud to deliver all three.

That’s why the time felt right for a new chapter – a fresh identity that reflects not only who we are, but who we’re becoming. Here, we take you behind the rebrand and share how Dominion is shaping the future of print with passion, partnership, and sustainability at its core.

The early days of Dominion

Dominion’s story began in 1983, when founder Dominic Clark moved a couple of second-hand litho presses into a converted Methodist chapel in Heaton, Bradford. With little more than ambition and a shoestring budget, Dominic soon spotted the untapped potential of large-format print – then a niche market – and pivoted the business to seize the opportunity.

Growth came quickly. Staying true to the ecclesiastical theme, Dominion upgraded to a larger church building, installing its first ‘monster’ press: a semi-auto Kippax screen line with a 20’ x 6’ print capacity in a single pass. Innovation was a constant, from clever workarounds like sliding enormous screens through floor ‘postboxes’ to early adoption of digital technology with the arrival of a 5m Vutek and 3m Nur.

By 2002, demand had outgrown those humble church walls. Dominion relocated to its current 60,000 sq. ft. headquarters at Carrwood House, complete with a mammoth M&R in-line printer – capable of producing 12’ x 5’ prints in five colours, in one pass. And as the business expanded, so too did the team. A true family affair, Dominic and Elaine Clark were joined by son Tom in 2009, followed by daughter Verity in 2012.

Where we are today 

Following the sad passing of founder and father Dominic in 2023, the business remains proudly in family hands, with Verity now leading as managing director. While our deep roots and deep values are very much alive in everything we do today, our penchant for progress has seen us reevaluate how we show up for our clients.

This moment has been less about change for change’s sake, and more about reflection: how do we honour the legacy that built Dominion, while pushing ourselves to lead in an industry that never stands still? After combining the diverse perspectives of our key business stakeholders, there was only one answer – by doing what we’ve always done best, but saying it louder and prouder than ever. We make print the easiest part of any project.

Our new identity reflects this. Bigger, bolder, and brimming with confidence, it’s a brand designed to inspire – and it’s backed by a new website that’s cleaner, sharper, and more useful too. Think case studies that prove what’s possible, a knowledge hub full of practical advice, and a showcase of projects to spark ideas. Because we’re not just here to produce great visuals.
